Hello
When purchasing a new truck, do we pay FET+state taxes? FET is 12% already, so it would be crazy to have to pay additional taxes as well. Anybody have experience with this?
Thanks
New truck

Depends on the state.
-
Missouri no state tax.
-
Don't buy in cali
-
Yes
But you can title a trailer in Maine and not pay tax
And there are ways to title the truck in a different state but you have to do it through a leased on companies name or find another way -
Most states do not tax trucks in interstate service.
-
It is called rolling stock exemption and it only applies to interstate work, so you declare you will be using for interstate commerce.
Most states have this in one form or another, but many dmv and other licensing bureaus are clueless.FiveRiversFreightlinesLLC, Short Fuse EOD, GYPSY65 and 1 other person Thank this. -
