I work for FFE. My rookie yr as a solo driver I made over 58k working linehaul & helping out local when needed. That was when their pay was @ $.40 a mile. Now it is $.50 a mile w/ no experience.

There is a terminal in Lemont, Illinois. Right now they are hiring for Local, Regional, Linehaul (drop & hook OTR, terminal to terminal) The plasma team you can try out for after you finish training (plasma pays exceptionally well)

Health insurance is United Healthcare. I pay $64 a week.

She can inquire about attending the school in Burns Harbor, then getting a local or linehaul job.

I don't know of city, local jobs, that allow a rider in the truck.
Many OTR jobs allow you to take your son and see the country.

I remember on lady on here a while back; low paying job and husband disabled and couldn't work.
She went to cdl school, then got a OTR job and took her husband with her. That worked out well for both of them. The rider/passenger cannot have a cdl though.

Yes, and our company does have a rider policy too. Not sure how young they can be. Safety or the recruiter would know.

Out of the Lemont terminal, regional goes to Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota

    Chinatown Thanks this.

From what I've seen the plasma folks earn every penny. I service a collection center and those -50F freezers get old fast.

And now you have hit upon the crux of the matter. Have you considered applying with Amazon, etc.? They make good money. At least better than you are making now for sure. Doubtful you will get a home daily, and you have a son to raise, I assume without a dad. This is a related type business, so it would count on your resume. You are young, and 10 years is nothing. Many on here didn't get into trucking until much later in life.
