all's well that ends well ! Maybe part of it is how they do it. IDK, but on Pete 379's you can run a string or wire around and pull them in their pretty easy with a little practice.
Probably make a guy wonder what he's paying so much for if you see it done. But it does take practice ! I've done a couple and didn't get it quite right, had to resort to a little screwdriver and was a major pain that way ! Also, on some trucks like my International you almost have to add some silicone, they prolly don't want a guy watching that either !

Watched them change windshields in all makes of trucks I owned , today they restrict access into the shops more than in the past for INSURANCE issues and a few places are starting to limit it for their yard as well if work is being done on a truck.

They dont want you to see them scratching the paint to bare metal under the windshield.
-
They also don't want you to see him break the glass into a gazillion shards and glass dust flying all around getting in your air ducts and carpet.
I had 2 meth heads come out to my house from a major glass installer and they made one heckuva mess.
After that I just started doing it myself. Since I do my own I never get any leaks. Go figure! -
I asked to ssee my old windshield solely for this reason. It was still in one piece
