New XPO LTL driver looking elsewhere

    Pay is hourly from the time you leave the terminal until you return.
    You won't be home every day, but the shippers and receivers are the best in the industry.

    And XPO is hell on this.

    Sounds like the OP would like one of the higher mileage peddle runs if there are any to be had in his neck of the woods.

    LTL jobs are usually pretty good.You do have to pay your due’s or building up seniority the higher you get the better the run.There are LTL companies where line haul is just driving shuttle runs usually have dock work in them.XPO does that as you know even when they were con way they did a lot of that central transport does a lot of it to .If you’re a young guy I would think seriously about changing over to a OTR job a lot of away from home and in some cases you’re not making anymore then you’re making now.XPO doesn’t have the best rep as a company to build a career with I personally would use them as a stepping stone to get in at somewhere like O D,Estes YRC ABF .Somewhere that when you did build seniority it is really worth something.
