I bet he was trying to figure out how to ticket you after he let you go without a ticket. I would not put it past him that he will tell others about the nerve you have approaching him.

    Really?!?

    VIOLATED?

    Threatened?!?

OHHHHHHHHH Please ... your boss will always get loads, this isn't a big deal and if you think it is, you haven't seen anything.

I did not run the station, I realized my mistake and stopped. I would've run it if he caught me past the rest area. He did not catch me, I stopped I waited for him to show up

I know the road you were on, I know the rest area you were pulled into, I can even tell you exactly why there is a path from the rest area road to the highway shoulder at that particular location. I-88 at Worcester, NY is very far from a high-traffic area, and if you were in the left lane passing at that point there is no way at all that you could have stopped where you did, if your view of the signs was in fact obscured by another vehicle. Your assumption that we are sticking up for the LEO is silly...he did nothing wrong or ethically questionable that requires a defense. He cited you for a violation which you very definitely committed, and did not decide to inspect your paperwork or vehicle further (and he easily could have, since that was the exact reason they were sitting there in the first place).

Again, you missed the signs for whatever reason, you got a (very small) citation, learn from it and move on. This is a normal operation in the Northeastern states...you're not in Kansas anymore, to be blunt.

I don't know about the trucks parked there, but I do know that the drivers of the trucks pulling in were looking all confused, like what do I do now, as there was nobody to direct them.

Now, you're right when you say that there's no money to be made for violations with no fine, but it does look good on Colpitts record that he caught a "massive" violation. Just as it doesn't look good on a cop's record to have a lot of clean inspections, that's why I've run into situations when after checking my logs they just made me go, without giving me the clean inspection. I'm sure you've heard of situations like that too.

Also, if there was a fine, I could've hired a lawyer to fight it, and I did state that in my initial post. You seem to overlook important stuff

Now, I gotta hand it to you, you "beat" me with your experience and knowledge of the roads. Not.

How about I was passing a line of cars or trucks and then got back to the right lane just in time to see the last sign?

If we're going to use logic, then how about there was a line of trucks that were slowing down for the inspection station and me not knowing what's going on passing them.

Again, I can't recall what happened before I saw the last sign that, mind you, was at the end of the connecting road not at the beginning, because I was just driving, and passing and driving. I don't make mental notes for every vehicle I pass, I just make sure I drive safe and not speed.

If you really feel that you're a poor victim read post 13.

Waste of time though IMO. You messed up, you know you messed up.

I grew up in Schenevus, NY, which is the next town West (exit 18, Worcester is 19). Heavy traffic as an excuse is laughable.

The trooper may well have been in the right to cite you for littering. You left bodily fluid on the ground. I am glad to know that most cops don't lump all of us in a group with the likes of you.

You weren't paying attention. They had 3 signs. It happens. Admit it. Learn from it. Move on.

The neat same exact thing happened to me in Laramie, WY. I knew there was a scale up ahead, but thought it was farther up the road. I was doing a slow pass on another truck and drove right by it as the other guy pulled it lol. I got lit up by red and blues before I even got the truck stopped. Got yelled and made to turn around(could have backed in, I was at the exit) went into the scale, got yelled at again. Got a ticket, same one as you, and moved on. Back in 04 they didn't have CSA yet so it was a non moving violation, a $75 fine.

This was actually a really good example of how complacency can sneak up on you. You think you're being alert, but you have loads of info that you're missing.
