From one newb to another. I found that the first yr after truck school was the hardest. The only work available to you is OTR. I really only want local but no one local will hire you unless you have 1-2 yrs experience. It's like you have no choice. I just joined this site too. I got my CDL 11/06 in Ca Good luck.

Haha its just a childhood nickname thats always stuck. Anyways the recruiter said they'll hire me local and regional or so I hope, if not I know of one company looking for someone to haul logs, lumber, chips etc.

You sure do and thanks for the words. Any other advice or anything to get me and edge? Ive heard to try to stay away from vans if at all possible. Id like to get into flats and drops or end and belly dumps. Id like to stay away from tankers because I believe the slosh would rock me to sleep.

you'll find that there is alot of info good and bad..after a while you'll be able to figure out who's talkig smack and who's talking fact...just like on the road....it's all good fun till someone loses and eye ...then it's keep away
