    Hello;
    I'm retired and hoping to get into some RV transporting or Horse transports.
    My dad drove truck all his life … so first, I appreciate all you folks do to keep our country running !!!

    I have a 2008 GMC Duramax/Allison with a fifth wheel in the bed. I've hauled several trailer and 5th wheels in Az for private folks looking to move from one area to another.

    I do have a question for any other RV transporters out there. How to you handle insurance ??? I understand that when you haul for hire you must have commercial insurance on your truck, but I've also found that that insurance runs $4k - $5k per year. For a retired guy looking for a part time job, that's a LOT of money.
    Are there less expensive ways to manage this, or am I out on a limb ???

    Thanks for any responses...

    Look at the OOIDA website; maybe there your questions can be answered.
