Hey everyone great to be apart of such an amazing group of talented individuals. I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Andy I am a new OTR truck driver currently in my first week of driving alone and LOVING IT! I'm interested in learning more about this industry and was hoping anyone with wisdom can share with me what they think. Here are a few starter questions I have for you.
What do I need in my truck? Supplies wise? In the categories of
-Appliances? Where do I go to buy them so they can plug into a cig lighter.
-Pet Supplies what to bring and how to potty train a puppy while being on the road?
-What office supplies to the exact point of product do I need to take since we all have limited room? Where do you go to buy them?
-What first Aid supplies do I need? Do you go through that a lot
-Shower supplies? Any suggestions when using the truck stops bathrooms? Any tricks ?
That's what I have so far, I would like to learn more about the trucks you all have under your trucker sleeves so I can pre plan better the next time I'm home and looking for products when I'm Over the Road.
Thanks to anyone who replies to my question's

Most of what I need is bought on Amazon Prime. Ordered with a couple of clicks, deliverd right to my front door.

Scented (non-alcohol) baby wipes are useful.
No rinse shower caps are something I keep on the truck too.
Flip flops for truck stop showers.
Hand sanitizer.
Liquid hand soap.
Gallon jug(s) of water.
Paper towels.

May I suggest you forget the puppy for the year, you don't need any extra distractions , you are as green as a stalk of bananas just of the boat.
Texas_hwy_287, jethro712 and boredsocial Thank this. -
Yea I'm dodging the puppy for the year. Makes sense to.

Try not to buy stuff from a truck stop...too expensive. Plan ahead get your stuff from a wal-mrt, however, sometimes you have to buy truck stuff from a truck stop ! Showers....usually not a line at 4am if you are up, but always a line at 5 pm ! But then, a good hot shower feels good at 5pm after 12 hrs and 600 mi of highway, right ?

Thank you for the reply and the awesome answer to my question.
I will surely do just that. What items would you recommend me buying in bulk? food products?
Also another question I have is do you know of any large or mid sized trucking tradeshows I can attend to meet and greet with other drivers who can potentially help be mentors to in the long run as I go down this road of trucking.
