Near as I can tell, in-state driving counts for squat when it comes to getting an OTR job w/ most companies.

Well i guess just the experience would benefit me when it comes around the time to start OTR

To be honest, every truck I've driven has been pretty similar...they all have different transmissions pretty much, but I've noticed almost no difference between all the trucks I've driven. They have all almost handled all the same. The tender trucks are extremely top heavy, which makes them difficult, but the 2 Petes I've driven have tags which balance it out quite well (I blew a tire on the tag axle one time and that's when I realized just how top heavy tenders are when they're full). The Freighliner tender I've driven doesn't have air bag suspension, it has spring, so it rocked a lot. The three tractor/trailer combinations I've driven (more than three trailers, but only three tractors) have all basically handled the same. The Kenworth was a day cab and the Pete and Freightliner were sleeper cabs. The Kenworth was easy as hell to back up since there were rear windows...it also could turn much sharper than the Pete and Freightliner, which made corners easier. I guess I have the most experience with Kenworth, so I'm kind of partial to driving them, even though I actually enjoy driving a Pete more.

    The trucks I've driven are:
    2004 Peterbilt 379
1999 Kenworth T700 or T800 (not actually positive)
    200? Freightliner Columbia
    2001 Peterbilt Tender Truck (possibly a 378, but I don't really know)
    2003 Peterbilt Tender Truck (also possibly a 378, but I don't know)
1991 Freightliner Tender Truck (Couldn't tell you which model).
