Thanks I'll take a look the link worked. I'm keeping all my receipts just in case I can claim something and save some money. I agree this per diem thing I know nothing about either.

I'd like to put an Xbox in my truck, but I dont want it to be killed by all the bouncing and vibration. So whats best, setting it on a shock absorbing foam pad or what?

My laptop has been in the truck every day for about four years and it still works. No special packaging required.

actually the number is 400,000. I was thinking of Sheris Ranch...although I thought it had burned down or closed down recently...but I can't find any information proving that...so I was wrong in that regard.

Remember this when just starting out, this is golden: although getting the load to its destination is important, its not nearly as important as your safety. When your starting out, dont worry so much about, " i gotta get the load there, i have to get the load there." This is your time to get the feel of the wheel, the road, backing, wide turns etc. Dont rush. The only thing that follows you into your next job is accidents. Remember take your time, relax, and use this otr time to practice. Your never gonna know it all, always learn, always ask other drivers, and when in doubt, get out and look. I STILL DO THAT and i have year and 1/2 of driving and i am local. Who cares what some driver is saying about you taking precautions. Thats smart. Its your license! And " when it ( a turn) looks to small, take it all " meaning take up both lanes if have to, just watch for 4 wheelers. Carry a highway cone with you. When i was otr, i used it to blindside. Hug the cone and you'll be ok. With tail swing, keep your tandems 6 ft or less from rear icc bar and your tail swing wont hit nothing. When backing into a spot with limited room to swing trailer? Try this: pull ahead of spot then back up with the triler inching closer and closer to the hole, once reaching the hole, then cut it and pull up to straighten it. With tight spots, hug the trailer on driver side but not touching it ( make sure tail swing is set to minimum ) and once your ##### end is in the hole, pull up to straighten. Remember G.o.a.l. get out and look just to make sure. AND B/C I KNOW IM GOING ON AND ON....Have fun! Meaning sight see, take pictures, make memories. When my wife were otr, we took picts. Make friends, made memories. Even went to see niagara falls ( bobtailed there..lmao) we went to chicago ( told dispatch i was sick) we took a train from wisconsin to chi town, had a blast!! These memories, you will never forget, and when your local, it will make you remember :0)

I would add "extra flashlight batteries" or "rechargable flashlight with and extra battery stick"... from experience having to work at night and rely on a light...

i can tell you you need to research companines to work for first and go by that. a lot of bigger companies pay "peanuts" for what you should be getting by being gone from home so long and dealing with all the crap out there. plus as a new driver you will be shoveling a lot of crap making crap to start with and dealing with even more crap lol. i do believe though as long as you dont hit !@## you will have a job but it is a hard life fyi
