Hey Fisher guy I want to thankyou for all the advice I feel very good after my first couple of loads will be gone now for several weeks. I haven't had to tarp yet but watched a lot of youtube and walked around flatbeds on the last run. I am familiar with hauling heavy equipment but the gazeebo was in pieces and took all 15 straps.

    fisher guy Thanks this.

Something to keep in mind. THe first time you tarp it will look like you let a bunch of third graders loose on your truck. I had to fix my first tarp job 4 times. It gets easier. You get a system and a rhythm going and it goes a lot faster. If you are loading where there are other trucks, go ask another driver if they need help tarping. Tell them that you are new at it and that you could use any pointers that they can offer. The same goes for securement. I am still really new to flatbedding and I learn something on every load. But I watch what the other drivers are doing and see how they are securing their loads. It used to take me for ever to secure and tarp a load, now it goes fairly quick. One piece of equipment that I cant believe I did with out, a ladder. Makes getting on and off the load so much easier when you are rolling out your tarps or throwing chains over something jagged like crushed cars. And like others have said, never enough gloves, straps or chains. Gloves make decent edge protectors in a pinch too.

    Schmegegge Thanks this.

I found a better system. Just make sure the tarp looks good and tight when you start, and then just don't look in the mirrors for any reason till you get where you are going.

    Aireal and fr8wurx Thank this.
