I'm new to the forum so a little back info.
I'm young, have my bare bones class 5,6 and air brakes. (single rear axle, motorcycle, air brakes)
I've been driving gmc 6500-8500, F650-750, Freightliner m2 102, International 4300-Durastars. For around 4 years now, with short trailers (under 32')
I have an older brother with class 5,6 and has some experience driving 18 speed 53' trailers, Lots of experience towing 40'+ trailers behind ram1500-3500's in oil field
I have a second older brother class 1Q (Everything besides motorcycles) he's got alot of experience and doesn't do long haul. (dislikes long haul)

My first brother and I have been talking about starting a long haul dry freight company as O/O working for bison, trans X, kindersley, Reimer, whoever makes us the best offer, he wants a blue international lone star with our own trailer. I have priced a bare bones one out for $141k, or a nice sleeper unit 6x4 for $154k. However I want to get into it for as cheap as possible until we start to see some realistic numbers. My brother would probably pitch %50/50 and I'd be the limiting financial factor at my upper budget of $84k leaving not alot of room for a trailer on that lone star, however my brother could easily pitch more and I'd make heavier payments till it was evened up. The company I work for now has a small international day cab 13 speed, with a short flat deck trailer I could use free after I paid for my own truck schooling to get my class 1.

My oldest brother dislikes not going home everynight to his girlfriend and children, however he'd probably be a asset if we needed a third driver, We are currently think of doing a 2 man crew working shorter days then we are now doing only 21days on the road with 7 days off. Which a good sleeper would be handy for, I was thinking of a low optioned peterbilt 587, then I saw freightliner M2 112 has an extended cab with a bunk and privacy curtain. Since we'd be running Calgary to Winnipeg mostly the cummins ISL 385 horse 18 speed with a 46k detroit rear end would be great price and functionality wise, but is that a actual sleeper? If it is and the price gap drops enough if we cut our shifts to 10/4 would it be a functional truck to get into and once paid off buy a highway tractor according to income and run the M2 as a second truck and hire my oldest brother or a outside driver for doing regional haul?
