Hello
So I've been a member for it seems a few years lol. I first registered when I left the military at started looking into becoming a trucker. I was in the Navy for 8 yrs as an ET, joined the NYPD academy (where I am originally from) and moved out to colorado right after the academy was done. Since then I've attended a few schools which I am still a student at my current one but hitting a point where Im starting to repeat more classes than not. so figured it was time for a change and came back to my original plan of getting my CDL. Not married, no kids so totally up for getting outta here for a bit and doing something different.
I know its not as easy as getting my CDL and just driving. In my head im telling myself expect it to be like boot camp all over lol, just grin and bear it, take it as it comes and just do what ever it is they want me to do it, the way they want it done.
I've looked at a few schools in the area and sage seems to have a decent reputation, along with the fact that they take VA, which i know many people have said there are other options besides using it just for a CDL, i have about 3 months left of benefits so don't think its going to matter at this point. Stevens has seminars in the area so thought I'd stop in and just see what info I could get on them, and a job fair at Sage next week for more info gathering.
I'm planning on finishing up this semester in school, which ends the first full week of december and just working to get some extra cash for the rest of the month then starting sage the first week of January. Combing the forums to learn from everyones experiences as much as I can, the good and the bad and just hoping to get my first year out of the way so I can maybe move onto something thats not so much OTR if thats what I choose to do when that time comes... sorry this got so long lol and hope in 2 months I can post updates about me having my CDL and figured out which company i've given my soul to![]()
