I agree I did the same thing. Didn't have any felonies but I did work the last year running my own landscaping company. I didn't pay any taxes. I used letters of reference from past clients to verify my employment. I showed them past invoices for clients and canceled checks from my business bank account. I also used records from my home depot credit account. It took a few extra weeks to get accepted but eventually did get on. So it can be done just show them all you can to prove past employment.
newbie here need advice PLEASE

THere are a number of companies who only look back or ask about convictions for the past 10 years, Knight Refrig is one of those. As far as the job history, explain to the recruiter your situation and go from there.
heavyd540 Thanks this. -
heavyd couldn't reply to your pm as I'm still new on the forum. I got hired on at Central Refrigerated.

With the economy these days, people do what it takes to survive. Whether it's cutting grass for cash, running your own business out of your garage, working for a friend, etc., I would hope most companies would realize that, and take that into consideration.

I can tell you things I've heard from the mouths of recruiters that made sense to me. I had been turned down by many companies and I had asked why. H.O.Wolding told me there are just so many people right now trying to get into trucking they can be more picky about who they hire.
I heard a career counselor say anyone can get their CDL but not many companies will hire someone who was in prison for theft. If you are looking to hire someone to transport truck loads of valuable materials are you going to take your chances with the guy who served time for stealing or take your chances on someone with a clean record?? Pretty self explanitory. He also said people who served time for drug related charges aren't going to find jobs in pharmacies either. it is what it is.
I had been unemployed for over a year. I just had to provide a "gap" letter to my new employer stating that I was unemployed and not incarcerated.
Another recruiter told me the insurance companies pretty much dictate who gets hired now.
