This does raise a good point i've been meaning to bring up i was thinking of starting a driving school where i would train newbies and instead of them paying $5000 which is a total rip off they could learn from an experienced driver out on the job instead of just cruising around town with some instructor.

Florida just isn't the "mecca" for trucking or truck drivers..maybe the carolina's, georgia, you might have a better chance....there are a few people on this site that live in florida...they can probably help you out a bit more, give them time to respond due to work schedules and such..
good luck to you, i hope you do well. -
Like Rerun said, most companies aren't going to touch you unless you went through an accredited school. This is due to their insurance. Your other option would be to go through a company school. Either way the school is just there to get you your license and get you ready to go with a trainer. No more, no less! So don't be too picky where you choose to go to school.

I know it sucks man. Having all that experience and having to still go back to school! I've been out of the scene for over a year and even I would have to most likely do a refresher or training. I have 15 years experience. Your only other option would be to find an owner op willing to take you on or a really small company. Check out MCT's website. They are an all O/O company and there are a lot of small O/O companies with 3-6 trucks or so. They have the names of those smaller companies on their website so that you might be able to call them and see whats up. Same thing with Landstar and companies like them.
