    Hi Guys & Gals
I'm a fresh off the press O/O (OTR exp 3 mths) that has bought a 26 in box (manual) truck and trying to make a profitable living from truck driving. I have my own authority, MC# etc but I'm working w/ a courier outfit. I've had continued promises of 'backhaul' that never come to fruition. I/ve had one w/in the 3 mths. I've joined this forum because I am eager to 'thoroughly' learn the biz, as well as expand my company - # some point. I'm starting to think that, for now anyway, buying this box may not have been the wisest choice. I'm having problems getting the couriers to provide backhauls so it's seeming to cost too much(to fuel) making me turn down many loads that are just not worth taking. I'm familar with the load boards but have never used one. I was lured to this company by the guaranteed weekly pay. Any 'viable' option suggestion will b appreciated:biggrin_2553:

Welcome. It can be a tough business to survive for sure. Nose around some load boards. Once you become familiar with some pick ups, you may be able to arrange some loads on your own. A direct connection (no broker) between shipper and buyer/consignee is what I'd be looking for. A couple-three pick ups you could get in less than a days time and also get delivered in a same type time frame should boost revenue. With a box truck you may want to think about 2,3,4 small shipments per load instead of one truckload. You may want to do a little homework on rates and fuel surcharges too.
