Im looking at many companies that would get me training. I want a good company to start good of with. My first choice was Stevens but im having difficulties on getting hired with them. I might still try but I will have to go through a lot. I see that many other companies offer school and training so I wanted to see how they are. Choices I have are Swift, Prime, CR England and CRST. I want to make a good choice and go with a company where I would get trained well, and one that I will learn a lot from when I attend their school. I have a few questions on about their company. How is the school CRST send you to? I want to make sure I learn everything I would need to, to get my CDL. Their pay looks the lowest .22cpm but always keep drivers out alot on the road is this true because it says that their length of haul is 1400-1500 miles per load and have the longest length of haul. Their drivers out 3-4 weeks and get 3-4 days hometime that would be something I would be looking at. Are their trucks equipped with APU? Are Volvo's And Cascadia's are the only trucks CRST have in their fleet? Thanks

After getting your license with prime you get 600 a week during training, prior to it is 200 that you can borrow up until you get paid training at 600 weekly. I haven't really heard anything bad about Prime besides if you lease they keep you out on the road (LOL) :biggrin_25519:........ I have a friend who drives for them, in training he seen his 2nd trainer consistently bring in 3,000 plus take home, weekly.

C.R. England pays $430 a week after you get your license but up until then you have to have your own cash etc. I suggest if you go with England, go ask to go to the Ontario/Fontana CA. school. I went there they have good trainers that will get you your license. If you decide to lease do a demo lease, and right now I don't think this is a great time for new drivers to lease because the winter season is coming up.

England does not pay the best but they certainly have good teaching material, though it is up to the driver to follow instructions listed in the material they give you. LOL like not sliding your tandems until you are at the dock etc.

Haven't really heard too much about Swift, though I do not think there is a bigger carrier than Swift in the trucking industry (besides like a FedEx, or UPS, and Conway who have lots of local trucks).....

CRST has a 20 on 10 day off thing with 3 drivers that rotate....so that the truck is moving, so the recruiting says great miles etc. but I came across this really smart with numbers truck driver who factually worked with CRST....who said the amount of miles they say they do and the amount of trucks they say they have running doesn't add up, and the pay was horribly low, and these guys both said they were waiting for their year and they were leaving....

Oh yeah forgot to add Prime if they train you require you to stay for a year, I would choose them. England rquires a 6month comittment if they train you. They fired someone I know saying he did not stop at an imaginary stop line soon enough on a non-marked road during his 2nd phase of training in Salt Lake City, UT. I wasn't there but I honestly believe it was because he didn't want to lease, and though they terminated him (no accident or anything) they sent him the bill for his training.

Please understand that they do tell people there is a 100-500 (that's the amount I have heard) waiting list to become a company driver, so some drivers will be persuaded to lease, or forced to go back out on phase 2 training.....which means bounce from personality to personality until you lease, they give you dedicated route or you become a 2nd seat to a lease operator etc.

Haven't heard much about Swift either negative or good, but I do see lot's of swift trucks on the road.

    Peace.....

I like CR England. I just dont want to go with them because they will force me to lease. I also heard you wait to get a truck if you dont lease and also dont run alot of miles because of that. I dont want to go and quit driving on my first year. Prime sounds good, I mean terrific. I might look into them and see. The way things look I might still try and get into Stevens I just have to tell my recruiter to send the paper work to the school in Colorado to get me started. But I would spend a total of $350 or more. Right now Stevens, Prime, and Swift what Im liking so far

What you may want to consider is to ask the recruiter are if they know of any dedicated routes out of your state. I know that there is a lot of R & L Carriers leaving the Atlanta area going to Salt Lake City, UT.

I forgot to add that with C.R. England both of the drivers they told they are on the waiting list to become company drivers are on dedicated routes now, and with about 2-3 weeks of them saying that to them.

You may be easily able to get on with a coca cola dedicated in Atlanta,GA. coca cola is big out there and they England does do alot of Walmart, Hershey, and Coca Cola dedicted......

    Cheers......

Andre is Stevens not working out for you then find another company, a good company you think that will best fit your needs. You have a lot to learn so you are new. Go with a company or school to get your CDL and then thru training and gain a year experience. After than you can look into another company to make more money. Not every driver that been thru the same company may not have the same experience with you. It might have been bad for them and turns out to be good for you to. There are many choices and many opportunities you can find in trucking so dont make it to hard to find a good company. Your in Georgia almost every company would hire you out of that area. Im living in that state only because for the company Iam driving now. I still have a house in San Francisco but dont know yet what I intend to do. Right now im driving for a small company, and to be honest im making more money than the last company I was with. I drive a nice blue 2010 Cascadia. This truck is governed at 74 but I drive 65-70mph. Am I loving it right now? Of course yes Iam but im not staying to long because I plan to lease soon, im just saving. You can find great training and earn you CDL through a good company, but you have the choice to find the best one that would be good for you
