I have a question for all you guys . When it is time to get assigned your trainer do they assign somebody in your area or is it just luck of the draw ? It doesn't really matter to me , just curious, anyways I start in Ohio on the 7th of march the day after my b-day so this is kinda like a b-day present for me ... Hope to see some of you guys out on the road

If there is a trainer that lives close to you and they can take a student they usually get one close to them. Also the trainers get to pick there students some pick them while there still in school. If not then Mike sends a list out with all the students needing a trainer and if they want a student they take one if not they don't.
truckerdan007 Thanks this. -
Bill is the trainer in Trenton. Close to the end of the training he will ask when you want to go out with your trainer. Ask the question if there is a trainer that lives in your area if that's what you want. Once assigned a trainer contact them and talk with them. One question I would ask is "how often do you take home time?" The reason I say this is I went through class with a guy who's trainer went home every other weekend. This f'd up his training time and added a couple of weeks he had to spend with this trainer.

Bear is right on the money! Also make sure of youre a smoker/non-smoker you let them know. Could be very unpleasant for you either way I'd you don't ask.
I knew my trainer before class ended and talked to him on the phone several times before we met. Worked out all the minor details prior.
Saves time and frustration. When my trainer took home time I just stayed in the truck at a ts. But he only took 2 days off when we were together.
I was lucky and built a great friendship with my trainer and to this day 8 months later - we still talk almost everyday. -
thanks for all the info , we will see what happens once i start training , I am not a smoker but i do not care if I have a smoker , because i have always been around smokers ..I think I am the only non smoker in my family...

Before I went out with my trainer we talked and laid down the rules. We both agreed on respect for each other first and foremost. He added I'm free to use anything of his in the truck just ask first out of respect. I agreed.
I added out of respect don't be ######## your pants while we're cooped up in this little truck. A lot of things I can tolerate. A pig that ##### his pants whenever he feels the need, especially in a T6 I would not tolerate.
I guess we all have our quirks, lol. -
Yes thanks for your response. I was reading thru the posts which is why my confuddlement when I went to their web site.

i can see how that is but they do have a link to the mti website which is the school for those of us that do not/did not have any experience. I will say that I went through their school in trenton in September and am still a big fan of Millis and I haven't met a driver on these Millis threads that you can't trust that they are being straight with you and I feel the same about my dispatcher and other company contacts.

I just heard on Facebook that there was a fire at the Trenton yard , I hope everyone was alright . I am also wondering if they are going to cancel the class for march 7th , I will call tomorrow to see for sure , but if I could get a heads up that would be great thanks
