I have to agree with the former posters that suggested to check with the state. There were several people in my class that had their tuition paid for by programs administered by the state unemployment service. Call your local community college and they can point you in the right direction.

I would not suggest ANY of the "free" driver training programs for just the reasons mentioned. Either they will pay you less than you can make at McDougals or they will try to pressure you into "leasing" a truck, which no newbie should think about until they understand the business. I can tell you several people I know got suckered into these schemes and now are beholden to a company for a minimum of 2 years while only making 30k or less a year. And, they are still gone 2 weeks at a time. Don't do it man!

Today I found out about Stevens have a school in Colorado. I will get my CDL at that school and stay with Stevens. The only problem now is that I have to pay the ticket for the bus on my own their. I dont know if I will get reimbursed

See if they will let you push your start date back by a couple weeks. If you buy a bus ticket 2 weeks or more in advance, they are much cheaper. Also, see if a compassionate trucker might be able to help you get where you are going. There is such a thing you know.
