Ask the college about financial aid, including grants, loans, on-campus jobs, Workforce Investment Act, etc.

I got my CDL from Knight and don't regret it. It was hard as most of the training is done on the road but I have been doing very well here. I strongly recommend reefer over dry. Only Phoenix does the CDL program now. I recommend program or the 9 week. A 10 hour course won't prepare you for this job.

    GiantBeard Thanks this.

Knight provides the schooling with no upfront costs. The program has changed since I went through it but the only costs would be food and possibly travel and lodging for a week of on site training. After that you go on the road with a trainer.

Really? I thought all you needed was the CDL permit and fill out the app. That is all I had to do.

Last September out of Arkansas. I just checked the site and it just says you need a CDL permit and the money to cover travel and room. I guess they don't cover it anymore.

    1. 10 hours of cdl class? No way. It takes a lot of practice to get confidence to be prepared for the DMV tests.
    2. Swift academy? No way. They will just pass you and pass your dmumb ### to a trainer to actually train u.
    3. Cdl college? Sounds too lengthy.

What you should do is contact more cdl schools and ask the following questions:

    1. How much time do u spend on the course/truck?
    2. Will they teach you how to double clutch?
    2. How much on road driving do u get?
    3. Will they charge you to use their truck to take the DMV test or is that provided?
    4. If you can't pass the test will let you keep practicing until you can?
