Guys Look.. been in the business for almost Ten years and I'll tell you that all those big companies are out there just to get you trained and out on the road. They get alot of money from the government to train new trucking employees as we are one of the top ten fields that are in high demand. 3 hundred thousand drivers short every year kind of demand.

So pick werner or SNI or Whatever just do your 6 months to a year depending on how fast you learn and then move onto a better company. Want to know what a better company is then don't be a hermit and talk to other drivers from smaller companies at truck stops and rest areas. Trust me we may look like we're mean but truth is it always makes our day to help a fellow learning driver. If you have any questions for me let me know I'd be glad to help.

As far as SNI letting you make 2 thousand a month? Come on are you kidding me? Shii I could make almost 3k working for a local outfit why be so happy with a mere 2k running OTR? Seriously need to do your research.. even for a newbie thats peanuts.

    Really?

My truck will idle any time I want it to.
There are no restrictions for temps.

I just have to remember to press the clutch in after the 4.5 minute warning comes on, and before the 5 minutes runs out.
Different makes have different ways of shutting off the idle shutdown, but they all have one.

Swift doesn't like to see high idle times, but the trucks are not restricted except for the auto-shutdown - which can be disabled regardless of ambient temps on all the trucks I have driven.
My idle times are usually higher than 'normal'. I even got written up for it once, a year or two back. Nothing but a light slap on the hand, and it was only mentioned in passing.
I pretty much idle the truck as I see fit.

They can make it company policy but that doesnt mean they are out of legal liability. They cannot fire you because you had the trucj running to avoid hypothermia or a heat stroke. If they do they have a lawsuit on hand and trust me they wont. They may write you up but that doesnt amount to crap. Again they cannot use that against you for legal reasons. Its just there to make you comply with their borderline illegal policies.
