The crazy thing also is, just a few years ago they were saying how the trucking industry is facing a crisis as there were no people available to fill the position. You can't make this #### up with all the lies the media and companies spin -- it truly is a sad reality.

    BigHossVolvo and gokiddogo Thank this.

There's no shortage. It's just turnover because most of these jobs are crap. I've been hearing of a driver shortage since the 90's.

gokiddogo, BigHossVolvo and Bodhi Thank this.

Amen, Basically "General Freight" is a meat grinder, they don't expect anyone to last more than 6-12 months. I've seen emails where drivers went broke or had mental breakdowns, and the fleet managers are congratulated for "Getting everything you absolutely could" out of that driver.

I've just about had enough myself, and I'm friends with the ownership of the company I work for; that's how bad its gotten.

    Glad to help.

I love driving trucks. I HATE Trucking/Trucking companies. It gets worse daily, and nothing is going to change it, because the people in the offices don't want it to change. Far as their concerned, loads are moving, and they're doing it CHEAP. Turnover is 100%, but fresh meat keeps applying, why change a thing?

I hope when I finally quit, I can find a nice gravel company, that actually cares about their people.

    gokiddogo Thanks this.

i’m very seriously thinking of leaving trucking myself and it’s all i ever wanted to do since i was a little boy . The industry sucks very few companies pay a decent wage and even new Canadians are complaining how much the trucking industry sucks. I’m thinking of trying to get a town job where my buddy works They’re always looking for guys with dz/az license guys

I was actually looking at Rocky View County jobs myself, Gravel and Equipment Operation on all roads that are not Hwy 1 or QE2.

the way it works where my buddy works is you start out as a contractor then when full time comes up you apply for full time . Even for winter maintenance you have to apply. He started out at $28 and some change a hr but was making the same or more than me working 8 hrs a day . Now he will be up to $36 a hr because he got full time . They do everything from cutting grass to cleaning up bathrooms at the parks . Me having a Az would probably be doing something else
