Just wait until they give you a DOT physical, when they say cough make sure you hold it steady.

Ask the instructor about Pickle Park etiquette

  3. I am a Crete Trainer, or was until I trained my wife, and we now team or super solo as the case may be. I trained around 50 trainees and only found one of them to be totally annoying. There can be personality differences, but if it is a horrible fit you will have means to communicate the difficulty to your Crete Terminal Manager on your weekly check in with him, and with Driver Development. I have been driving for 18 years, and I can remember how nervous I was. It has been said that Truck Driving and the Military are similar in the amount of change of life they are. This is part of what your eight weeks of training will be about, seeing if driving is a good fit for you. It really takes a one year commitment to determine if indeed this is the right fit for you. CDL school and training are two different things, CDL school will teach you what you need to get a CDL and just enough to get you in trouble. It is your training that will teach you how to drive a truck in all the different conditions of traffic and weather, and under the stress of things going on at home and how to handle all of that. If you feel that this is the direction the Lord has lead you I'm sure you will do fine. Rest in the knowledge that the Lord will be with you.

Just relax. No point in worrying about things you can't change.

Hahahaha....sack up and roll! Seriously, an hour into your trip you will be thinking, "What was I so worried about?". A month from now, you'll be getting the hang of it and thinking the same thing all over again. A year from now, you'll be giving this same advice to some other FNG who is worried about their first trip.

Or you'll mess up horribly and quit/get fired/die. Don't do that. Totally ruins the experience. ;)

Good choice. Remember how you felt the first time you drove a car? Yeah, it's kinda like that. You got over that and eventually could drive your 4-wheeler like a moron with the rest of them, right? LoL. Same here.

And most importantly when first starting out; slow down and don't worry about holding anyone up. They'll get over it. Just don't have a wreck, remember to breathe, keep it legal, and enjoy the ride! Oh, and one other thing, trip planning, trip planning, trip planning. Google Maps is your friend. Better to pull off the road and figure out where you're going than take a wrong turn and end up somewhere you wish you weren't in a 70 foot beast... I also sometimes park and walk it out before committing. Has helped me more than once. You'll be fine! Just relax and don't run anything over, and the rest will follow...
