kawategra, lighten up man. You feel you're being picked on but you came across as knowing for a fact about double clutching and cabovers and tried to make me look like a liar. You have to double clutch to get your cdl, so of course the trainers will tell you to double clutch.

Once you get your cdl and get with a trainer, they may or may not make you double clutch. But when you get your own truck, you can shift however you like provided you can get to the next gear without grinding them into dust.

The question was asked and I told it like it is as a Swift driver. YES they actually have cabovers. The question was asked so I answered it. Does this mean students that pass the training period with a mentor will be assigned a cabover? NO! The question just asked if they had them and anyone who drives out west can easily confirm that there are some Swift COE's out there yanking doubles.

You're in for a rude awakening out there on the road my friend if you get this worked up on a forum. Good luck!

Another thing is swift catches a lot of heat. If you think the board is bad, look out highway......:biggrin_2554: Most on here are just giving you a hard time. Out there some are very agressive against swift. I have seen more than one O/O that had good intentions of putting a swift out of his misery after they hit his truck.....

I'm sure your trainers are making you double clutch now to prepare you for your license test in which you have to during your driving portion of the test. I guarantee you that your double clutching will go by the wayside when your out on your own.

Number one rule to apply at ANY company, albeit a trucking company or ANY other company, NEVER LIE about ANYTHING. If they find out, you will be terminated.

and another good rule to remember, NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE EVER EVER BELIEVE A WORD ANY RECRUITER HAS TOLD YOU NO MATTER THE SITUATION, OR OCCUPATION. Recruiters breath the firey air of lies. :biggrin_2551:

Study your little ### off, listen carefully, don't let people who are prejudice against you for age or gender get you down, and learn the ways of the road.... completely different lifestyle, that believe it or not you WILL get adapted to, and you will be fine.
Also find what all you need to bring.

I've never seen a swift cabover, and that's who I drove for. Not calling you out or anything, just saying.... I never saw one at Swift.

I have seen a couple different ones out on the highway out west. Both times, they were pulling doubles. Have seen a couple at different terminals out there as well. Not saying they are common but they do exist and are used.

The comfort zones arent that bad I run the GLR midwest regional and I make pretty good money and am home once a week, or I can stay out two weeks if I want to. Yeah you get alot of shorter runs but you also get paid more for the shorter runs. But thats me I like running the midwest I know the area pretty well, and I hate the east coast with a passion thats why I wont run 48. I also have yet to see a cabover with swift yet but I keep around the midwest, and ran down into florida with my mentor, but im sure they have a few left.
