your first trucking company will not be your last. They all have different programs but I think crst is the worst just because the team up 2 newbies after a couple weeks and pay very low.I went with werner because it was the closest to my home.I parked my car there and when the truck got stranded I could go home.I also had 3 week training but it was enough to get cdl and then was with trainers for 6 weeks

am well aware of the possibility of switching companies. the fellow over at roadmaster told me that after i graduate they will help place me with a company. said that if for some reason that company doesnt seem to work for me to give them a call and they will find another. does this seem the norm?

Expect the worst, hope for the best. Get ready to be abused and bullied by trucking companies- if you can handle it and get past the first two years, you're in. Guard your marriage, watch your house, hold your temper and NEVER use your savings for ANYTHING to do with trucking, it will never come back to you. For God's sake- whatever you do, wait two years before becoming an O/O. If you jump too early, you'll never recover. It'll cost everything close to you because you'll give 110%. When you find yourself single, homeless and deep in debt, you'll wish you had waited 'till you knew what you were doing. It's my best advice My Friend. Make us proud..

Update: I have so far received in the first two weeks of school two prehires from Falcon and Werner. I have met a few drivers from both and they seem like a good fit for me to start out with. Living just North of Detroit those companies will get me home often to my family. It is a tough decision between the two companies, I like both alot. I do like the fact Werner has been using paperless logs for quite a few years. If I were in Roehls hiring zone that would be a good fit as well.

well as of today, second day in school. going for permit tomorrow. currently looking at swift, werner, prime and covenant. covenant recruiter was at school (roadmaster) yesterday. made it sound fairly decent. but being prior military, not inclined to believe all they say. but have at least 2 more coming in next week. will see what happens.

Don't. Recruiters will embellish things to get bodies in trucks. I don't know if they get any kind of bonus or what have you, but they will tell you what you want to hear to get you to sign your soul with their company. Talk to drivers from those companies. Come here to get first hand accounts. But always form your own opinion. Only you can decide what's best for you. You go to PAM's area and you have people badmouthing them left and right. I love PAM. Have always been treated right and always got good to great mikes. Just gotta choose for yourself. :)

oh dont worry, i understand recruiters. all the same world over.
and believe me, if they are going to make promises, i will be telling them to put it in writing. then it make it a breach of contract. i know how to play that game.
