Yup, yup & yup.
I started driving a little over a year ago, went through some serious hell with big carriers and pulling near impossible duty, cheating on hours to get by and all that crap.
I lost my job in '09 after 24 years at the same place,I was unemployed for 16 months while looking hard for anything that would pay the bills the whole time, driving was the only thing I could find that wasn't a big gamble.
I wasn't about to rock the boat as a new driver and in fear that I'd lose my home if I couldn't make it work so I pretty much did everything that was asked of me.
It took a year of busting my butt but I finally landed a decent daycab gig where I'm treated pretty well and only work 9-12 hrs a day.
I'm not getting big money but I'm making a living comparable to what I made before so it's all good now,I sure paid my dues over that first year to get where I am now though.
It wasn't a mater of having a spine or not it was a mater of desperation.
Loosing a job and being over 50 years old is not a good place to be in this economy, especially so if all your areas of experience are in home building related trades.
For me failure was not an option so I was not about to do anything to jeopardize my chances of staying employed,I've never been a butt kisser but in this case I kept my mouth shut worked my tail off and did whatever was asked of me at every job I took.

But many carriers use Qualcomm or email to communicate so there is a record . Messages can be saved or photos of them taken with phone cams . Just turn down a few loads explaining why it can't be legally done and keep a copy of your message and the response .
The Crete driver that killed 7 kids had plenty of documentation and Crete knew they'd better act in his best interest . "And Wilkerson's lawyers were considered two of the best - former Gainesville judge Larry Turner and Jacksonville attorney Hank Coxe, then president of The Florida Bar. Wilkerson's employer, Crete Carrier Corp., hired them the day after the crash, an arrangement he approved of in court."
