Nice old Emeryville:

Great truck.

 

What is great about a COE,flat top tractors,and wittle sleepers? I started out in all that stuff and every time the industry made a advancement and improvement in equipment it was welcomed by me.

First stand up walkin sleeper I got I thought I had died and went to heaven.

 

I had a friend that had one of those trucks. He sold it in 1974 and bought a new Freightliner.
Funny thing is...His Freightliner landed in the junkyard about 15 years ago and his old Emeryville is still running up and down the road.

I still see it a couple of times a year and it's still in great shape!
Those old trucks were tough as nails and I love seeing them around...But I'm shure glad I don't have to drive them any more.

 

My dad bought two of them taught my brother and me both how to drive in the first one.All of us was glad to see them go when he bought his first Transtar in 69'.

 

I know where one of these are sitting...(or was several years ago). It was in a place that I couldn't get the truck off of the road to inquire of the truck. Hopefully it will still be sitting there waiting for me when I pass that way in a week or two...

 

The first I ever drove was an Emeryville. From Chicago to OK City. Pulling a 40ft flat. With a stop in KC, Ks.

 

I've heard a lot of drivers over the years lie about these trucks that didn't even know where the name came from.

 

They were made in Emeryville, CA

 

I run into a guy every now and again at Publix there in Dacula that brings his load down behind one....Good lookin truck, occasionally he drives an old KW...if I remember correctly I think he's outta PA somewhere
