How many of you are aware you can idle while in the sleeper if your truck has a DPF ? http://www.nj.gov/dep/enforcement/advisories/2011-06.pdf
Obviously a lot of drivers at the T/A in Columbia didn't know it because at 4 a.m. this morning the only thing I heard running was reefers .
I wonder how many local cops know this and how many might have wrongly fined drivers . If you have a DPF you should print this out .

I think the lack of idling is governed more by companies' restriction on their drivers, the chargebacks, the APUs and drivers having warmer sleeping quarters due to bunk warmers or just good bedding.
But it's good to know the information when AC season returns.

We don't have computerized time limits on our trucks because we use the compressors or pumps to unload at some deliveries . We can idle all we want but are encouraged to use IdleAire when we can . I used them before when our company had an account and I could charge it to the Comdata card . The company hasn't opened a new account since IdleAire started back up so I haven't used them

My company has a no idling policy, but when temps are above 80 or below 30 they can take that policy and stick it.

My truck has one, but I can bypass it by turning on the cruise control and turning on the bunk override switch on the ECP.

Me neither, not on Streets and Trips either.

    Well that explains it.
