Thanks again. Usually newbies go otr, in that case they would never get home except for every other weekend for a few days , then out again for another 2 weeks, so Sysco has more home time than that for sure. I'm still trying to figure out what to do about a family trip that was planned a year ago in advance for a week in Jan. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea to request that week with no pay of course even in the interview, or just leave it be and lose my money on that trip, nonrefundable. So once in a while you would get in a manual? I'd be afraid I would lose the ability to shift right if I were in a auto all the time. I could be wrong.

we had a coule of guys that got hired in the summer time and took a weeks vac. its no big deal. you will see a lot of driving sticks until they phase them out. once you do it its just like riding a bike. you won't forget it. any more questions, just ask.

is the start time in the morning set Or is it flexible by a few hours then just stay a few hours later? It's probably set delivery times I'm guessing though. I suppose i would mention the week in Jan. in the interview, i've worked a few places were they were really touchy about other guys taking days off right off the bat like that. Hope a good Thanksgiving was had for you!

they are extremely strict on times!! they write guys up for being 2 minutes late. you won't have any problem getting time off.

wake up at 230am coffee juice and toast. 4am start-- snack on things all day. don't really eat anything too heavy. lots of fruit and water. usually home between430 and 6pm dinner and hang with family til 830pm. do it all again the next day.

    longtrail34 Thanks this.

you just get what you get i suppose, right? I have been learning on a 53, and a 48 and i can't believe the difference in backing between the two. That 53 is so slow compared to the 48, a 28 must turn ridiculously fast when backing. Do you know what length trailer they give and what maneuvers they have us perform on our interview test?

depens on how many cases you have for the day as to what size trailer you get. for the driving test they'll have you do the basic stuff. nothing too hard. drive around town and probably have you back into a dock door. most likely a pup trailer for the test.
