Whatever the reason, the camaraderie and professionalism is all but gone these days. From all the trash talk on CB to urine bottles on the ground at the truck stop, it seems like nobody has respect for anyone else or their property anymore.
-
It isn't just the trucking world, it is society in general. As someone who is not yet a trucker I can tell you that the general public does not really care about anyone but themselves.
I am actually in Gen Y and find that a lot of my fellow generation are too wrapped up in their own stuff to care about anyone else. Hell, look at the mess that led up to the financial collapse. Why did that happen? Oh yeah, greed and people not caring about anyone but themselves.
Sorry, rant over
-
It went from treat others with kindness to screw everyone and don't care about what people think of you. So they turned what was supposed to be a self esteem booster by not caring what people thought of them into a crazy spiral of don't care what anyone thinks about you just do whatever you want. Sad really

I'm not going to sugar coat this reply as it grates on every nerve I have left!
OK, you give up a few trailers to that O/O or L/P driver and take the food out of your or your families mouth because he has a truck payment and you'll figure it out real fast after you get a little more than 1 years experience under your belt and your ear ripped off by the wife if you have one OR after kicking yourself in the arse when you realize that you just cut your own throat because it'll be 12 -24 hours or longer to get one and NO layover pay!
Just because they OWN or LEASE something does NOT make them the king of any hill or more important that you and yours!
That bull crap of "how it used to be" and from a rookie is again BULL! I'm old school, been doing this since the 70s and I never gave up a trailer to anyone unless told to by dispatch! My bills are as important to me as his are to him even as a (lowly) company driver!
FCFS has ALWAYS been the theme in trucking and again my family is more important that his!
I don't know what story you got that from but you better go ask Alice how it went again!
NEVER give up a trailer unless told to by dispatch then raise hello about it! All's fair in love and war but NOT in trucking! -
Well if trucking don't work out for you, it sounds like you have a promising future as a politician.

How does a Driver for MAVERICK venting about lack of MT trailers at a KRAFT plant become the O/O , L/ P give up a trailer debate.
