I don't need a BOL, but your logbook needs SOMETHING to identify the shipper and the commodity.

I've been inspected when all I have was an invoice, a delivery order from the customs broker, and a home made BOL. All fine. I bet a purchase order would work, too. When you DON'T identify your load on your log, it's a "form and manner violation".

Inspectors really want to see a number tying the driver to a load document for HOS purposes. It's not required (only shipper and commodity, not a numbered document), but they want PAPERWORK of some kind.

    Orly.

I happen to be a driver who have refused the load and defended FFE from shady. There is alot of yelling until I redirect everything to my DM who is quite a warrior.

That changed the converstation a little bit that month and I found myself talking to higher inside offices for potentially becoming a trainer.

Some of you guys would argue with a fence post!.....lol!

Myself,I could care less if I have a BOL or not but Mr. DOT man might have a different view.
Every time I have been inspected I was asked for my bill of lading if I was loaded...

That left bottom corner of a log book page asks for shipper and commodity and BOL number...
I did get a warning one time for not filling that in on my log...( for those of you that have actually used a real log book)

Hey! But what do I know....just a dumb truck driver for the last 33 years!

Of the times I've been inspected I've always been asked for my bol. I've always been told that a bol must accompany the load at all times.

If you are not running two logs, your probably not a driver. Your a wannabe but can't grasp unloading drops all day then driving all night for the next one. That's illegal you say. #### you might be right.

...And if any of it's hazmat you'll be OOS.

I for one refuse to put myself in that position, nor would I expect anyone else to do likewise.

I've been stop with no Bol, when asked for one. I said I have none. Next question was where did it pick and where does it deliver. That's it nothing more was said about it. Technically I suppose you shoul have one, but not really enforced.
