first off it will take about 3 months to hit your DAC report in most cases....2nd use the don't ask don't tell approach and you should be fine....If prospective employer asks about what happened then explain if not don't sweat it....
just realize that once you make your decision you should stay with said company for at least 1 - 1 1/2 years before moving on to somewhere else...
but honestly you shouldn't have too much to worry about in any case.
No call No show. Does it hurt?

I dont blame you for what you did, however you could have handled it better. You should have answered and told them that you couldn't wait any longer and moved on.....
pattyj and chorizo992 Thank this. -
I'll have to agree with you there.Employers are pretty good about accepting you not taking the job.
chorizo992 and EZ Money Thank this. -
Thats a bad move,go back with swift if its an option,they are not that bad.In trucking one year flies fast.
chorizo992 Thanks this. -
.... I would stick it out with swift, until the training is paid off.... Yes it was a terrible thing to have starved you down like that but atleast now you have a taste of how ugly trucking can be..... They have tactics to condition a driver's thinking such as : pumping fear into the driver, making the driver feel hopeless & worthless or dumbing the driver down by talking to him in condescending way.... This will help them make you jump through their hoops and such .... But there are also tactics the driver can use to counter this the first tactic is knowing what their tactics are like what I just mentioned above.... The second is rising above this by keeping a good additude, doing a great job & keeping it as positive as possible,(kindness kills) .... You are a rookie so you will have to learn to do some what I call wd40 trucking
... You want everything to flow as smooth as possible, if they have you sitting waiting on a load, keep it positive say things like "you guys are killing me" in a joking matter.... If they are putting the heat on you with a tight window time or something like that say things like "your right this is load is hot we gotta get it there" .... Remember that just because someone dresses nice & uses alot of fancy words doesn't mean they aren't just as much of a lowlife as any crackhead in an alley, being truthful & honest will always put you on higher ground..... Sometimes it's better to be "dumb as a fox"
.... Remember to do your very best no matter who you work for nothing can stop you from doing better but for now you will have to "shuck & jive" your way to the top, if you show yourself valuable to the company they will think twice about giving you crap.... This is not to say be a "butt surfer" you will see plenty of those kinds of drivers also.... In the end you will become a more "kind yet firm" driver and that is something they will have respect for..... I hope you are not married or have children because you won't be home much.... When I got into trucking, I lost my marriage and alot of watching my son grow up without me, I ended up living in a truck for a couple years alone having a love life on the run.... My friends at home thought I was dead, there was no need to pay the bills at home.... Home was my truck, it gets in your blood, especially when you get a divorce, my biggest regret was missing baseball games with my son.... I thank God every day for watching over me OTR even tho I didn't deserve it..... Be safe out there, I hope you remember to keep your cool when things heat up....." WD40 drivers are smoother & make more $" so smile even if it hurtschorizo992 Thanks this. -
Excellent post Superflow. To all the new drivers out there, print this and post it somewhere where you reread it every morning, it will take you far. I would also encourage you to return to Swift and finish the slave labor time period. After that, you can look around and see what you want to do at that time. {Bee putting her Safety Cap on.} Since you know there is going to be a problem with the employment verification with Swift you can do one of two things. 1. If you have your DAC by now you need to file a rebuttal and place your side of the story on the DAC. You will need to keep a copy of this along with the return receipt that you used to send it to DAC (HireRight). That way you have proof that you have filed a rebuttal with DAC and Swift. 2. When you are on the phone with the recruiter you need to tell them the story of what happened at Swift, BEFORE it come back on your DAC. That way, they know before they get it back, you owned it and gave your side of the story before they stumbled into this information that may shade how they feel about you as a driver. {Bee, taking her Safety Cap off.}
