Thanx! What I'm balancing here is getting on the road with no money to spare after "school" and I wonder if I'll be able to use Skype and get on this forum at wifi spots like TS or FourBucks. (I've sat in their parking lots before, heheh)

Most other truck stops charge for admission to ther wifi. Prices are usually $4.79 +- for 24 hours. They usually have a monthly subscription of $20-$30 a month. The cell based internet is mostly set at about $60 a month.
As to using Skype on WiFi...if you are at a truckstop in the morning or early afternoon, there is usually enough bandwidth available to use it without problems. After 5pm the truckstops begin to fill up and the bandwidth begins to drop as more truckers log on to the wifi service. By 7pm, most truckstop ISP's are useless for Skype or other streaming audio/video programs -
I've been stopping at quite a few Kwik Trips in Wisconsin lately, and all that I have been to offered free WiFi.

Problem would be getting into a quicktrip and parking for hours. Seems like I'm pretty much gonna have problems.
I thought you guys would know the term, but around here in Atlanta, we call Starbucks "Fourbucks" because that about what it cost you for some coffee there... -
Why would there be any problem getting into a Kwik Trip. There are several with at least medium-sized truck parking.
-
some of 'em here are kinda small and I just suppose that they don't want to be a truckstop. I try to be in the right most of the time, and I DON'T like getting run off like a bad dog. I'm sure later on I'll be able to afford service, but it will be a while.

The thing is, once you're in your truck, it seems they do everything they can to make sure you don't get near the home. Trust me, you will eventually end up at a Kwik Trip if you drive for Roehl. I was at the one in Wausau, WI just a few days ago. The time before, I ended up at the one in Tomah, WI. I'd normally avoid the Wausau one, but since I don't have my Sprint Mobile Broadband any more, I figured Kwik Trip would have WiFi, and was right.

I've been checking on the different data cards/air cards mentioned here.
So far I had to leave a message to talk with someone from Slingshot. There lowest rate is $24.95 for 100 mb. Not sure what that would get you?!
Millenicom talks about pausing service temporarily if needed and paying extra for a static address.
