We talked about that, too. He said he doesn't do neck measurements or anything like that and won't refer people to expensive sleep studies until it becomes a requirement. His grandfather was a driver, so he is sympathetic to what we have to deal with.

But considering it's the government, who knows how long it will take to implement. It sounds like they're just in the planning stages at this point.
It is the next logical step after having us register our medical cards with the state. At least Ohio does that. I don't know if that is nationwide yet. -
Chances are Covenant will take full advantage of you making such a low weekly wage.Meaning they'll give you alot of miles and very low pay per mile.Sure you need the exp but 90 days at 450.00 a week.I wouldn't take that and then teaming with someone you don't even know. You can do better.TMC,after the first week guaranteed a thousand then what.Did recruiter say how much you would average every week?

As of October of last year, CRST only required the card, not the long form. If you have the card and it is good to go, you might try CRST.
PS: The correct answer to every question on a DOT physical form is "No."Florida Playboy Thanks this. -
Why don't they just require people to be muscle bound athletes, have a perfect health history, have perfect uncorrected vision, and not be older than 40? Seriously, they just won't leave us alone with these new regulations constantly coming down the pipeline. The obese drivers are going have a hell of a time trying to stay in the industry. So much for trying to solve the "driver shortage" when they're always looking for a new reason to disqualify us from just wanting to make an honest living and contribute to society.Ooops Thanks this.

Why do you guys keep pushing the mentally ill out on the road? I hope it's your family in harms way when some wack job. Goes postal and starts ramming his or her 80 thousand pound missile into the backs of law abiding citizens. We have enough mentally incompetent people out here already. It's pretty clear in the rules that if you have mental issues. A cdl is not for you.
207nomad Thanks this. -
A history of mental illness, in and of itself, does not disqualify one from obtaining a CDL and medical card. What DOT regulation do you contend states otherwise?

391.43 (9) Has no mental, nervous, organic, or functional disease or psychiatric disorder likely to interfere with his/her ability to drive a commercial motor vehicle safely
-
They key phrase is "likely to interfere with his/her ability to operate a CMV safely."
Currently or formerly having a mental illness is not, by itself, disqualifying.
