Trucks don't necessarily have the same view of "no home time needed". Your truck will have to be at a service terminal for a day or 2 every month or so. Some more then others. Some carriers want a truck to get it's services done at it's "home terminal", some will perform routine services wherever they happen to be at the time. Keep this "required downtime" in mind.
And please, don't do anything rash until you've given the lifestyle at least a few months before you start burning bridges. If it turns out trucking "gypsie style" is not all it's cracked up to be for you, not having a "home" to return to to move to plan B is going to make a bad situation much worse.

I did it for a little over a year. I had my check direct deposited to my account, had my mail sent to my ex wife's place, and she handled my bookkeeping and finances while I was on the road.

I do it now. No car no rent nothing. My mail goes to my friends house not that I get anything but crap cause its 2014 and almost any bill is paid online. It gets old fast when I first started I was staying out months at a time now I barley stay out a month and am off. This job is the best worst thing I have ever done. I would wait to get rid of your place though. 80% of new people quite driving in the first 6 months. Just food for thought.
allniter and ZephyrSoCal Thank this. -
Just make sure you do get out of the truck now and then so you don't get cabin fever. I worked from home for 6 months and I started to get to me but I didn't get a change of scenery like you would in a Truck.SL8Alexander Thanks this. -

Probably a few thousand drivers doing that. Pick a company that lets solo drivers run coast to coast. Many reefer outfits give the long runs to teams and solo drivers take the leftovers. Not all do this, but it's a good question to ask. When you see a company recruiting heavily for teams, probably want to keep looking if you want to run solo.
You will see more open country running flatbed and delivering out in the boondocks which is great in my opinion.
