Thanks for the link. I also just sent an email to the NYS permit office to enquire. Crazy they could require you to file even if you don't drive there.

Edit: it does make sense that you could be required to file 0 miles if you had filed for their heavy use or highway use permit or whatever it's called. Kind of like how we have to file income tax returns even if you don't have an income that year. It would definitely not make any sense if you were required to file quarterly if you never get their HUT. B

okay 18000 pounds or more and you have to get it

I have keeptruckin eld and pay for the advanced package that includes mile/state tracking for ifta and hut. Also can add your fuel receipts to the app and when its time to file you have all your miles and gallons ready just to copy and file. 5-10 minutes every 3 months. As easy as it sounds.

THANK YOU for this. Awesome. I was looking at their ELD and wondered about the features they elude to versus actual use. Very cool.

Yesterday was a successful day, got the USDOT #, MC is pending, insurance is quoted and needs to be bound, LLC and bank accounts are ready. Time to pull the trigger on the insurance and file BOC-3 and I think UCR is next, then the authority should be granted. Or at least that's my current understanding of the process according to Get Authority to Operate (MC Number) | FMCSA
    :)

Took my MC 3 weeks to get authorized. Just so you know, once you have everything except the MC you can run local in your state with a DOT# only so you don't have to sit for weeks till the MC# is authorized.

    singlescrewshaker and Xray4 Thank this.

I forgot about that part! Time to get loaded may be sooner than I thought :)

You can run intrastate with a dot number and no mc number? What about getting loads off load boards? I've only had them ask for mc number

My mc is inactive now, so if I were to start running intrastate only but still CDL weight, then I shouldn't need irp or ifta right?

I'm getting into the thick of it!

Looking at what states require their own Intrastate Authority if you want to pick up and drop off a load in their state, even though you have Interstate Authority already. There's a lot of research to do here! I wish I had an 'easy' to follow step by step manual for this lol.

I found an old thread from 2010, and don't want to bring it back up from the dead... Do you guys get Intrastate authority in specific states to snag filler loads while traveling through?

Maybe I should open another thread on this,...
