Before I had PeopleNet, I wrote "FMCSR 395.1 (j) applies here." No one ever questioned it, but I'll bet everyone looked it up after I left the weigh station. Basically, you're on duty driving to the terminal to report to work. But, after a 10 hour break and before reporting for duty, it changes back to "PC" status (personal conveyance) and it's off duty. On peopleNet, it'll automatically change you to the drive line unless you changed your status to "PC".
Yesterday, I went through a class but forgot to log it "On Duty, Not Driving". Made a request for the compliance folks to change it and went to Wally-World for chips and snacks. While I was in Wally-World, the change was made and I was put on "Off Duty" automatically. Of course while driving back to the terminal I heard the "BEEP". It put me on the drive line 'cause I didn't change it from "Off Duty" to "PC" before I started driving. I considered making a correction request to correct the drive time while explaining that a correction request and a correction caused the problem.
Is it me or is this job starting to sound like a Monty Python skit?

It's not you. The EOBR can be a massive headache at times.
-
So good news, we got line 5 turned on. Bad news is I just found out today that it will not appear for my drivers until the log out and log back in. This would have been good information to know a few weeks ago when we actually turned line 5 on.

My company is on the Qualcom Elog. Our personal conveyance allowance is 30 minutes to obtain food or lodging. We can log several of these per day as long as we don't total more than 1 hour. We must be bob tail. The system logs it as off duty and flags that section of the log as driving off duty. It does not screw up a restart or hours to drive later'
The company gave us a letter to keep in our permit book that spells out the policy should we ever be questioned by the DOT.25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
I agree with the quote.

Ive heard about this line 5, but have never seen it, what is the title for this line as in

line 2 sleeper birth
line 3 driving
line 4 on duty not driving
line 5 ??? -
Line 5 Off Duty DrivingInjun Thanks this. -
We had a DOT guy in at our last safety meeting and his interpretation of "unlanden" was bobtail only. I wish the rule wasn't so vague.
-
It isn't vague. It's very clear. Unladen is synonymous with "unloaded" and makes no mention of whether you are attached to the trailer or who that trailer belongs to. HE can "interpret" it any way he wants to. Write me up. I'll fight that one.
-
That's true. I was stopped and checked last summer and when I was showing OFF DUTY, the officer was dumbfounded on how I was driving without showing DRIVING. I stated I was unladen, he checked trailer to confirm, and I left there with no violation. He still questioned the practice until I reminded him of the regs allowed it. I think he was just trying to see if I knew the regs.
Injun Thanks this.
