If they're on the side, yeah, I don't think they mind. If they're trying to shoot radar, then they get annoyed. It's really up to the cop that catches you doing it wether to run you through the wringer or not.
No more flashing!

A cop on the side IS a hazard in the road...ever have some dummy slam on his brakes in front of you when he freaked at seeing the lightbar?
I doubt it's legal, but "back in the day" when we were running 15-18 hrs. at a run, ALL lights were irritable, and I'd gotten hold of some of that rubberized plastic that you use to stick on tint to your back windows? I'd cut it to fit my mirrors (wasn't very dark) to take the edge off. Of course, you can't back up with them on, but it was nice at night, being able to see the dash but not blinded by cars behind you.
Always the inventor. Since then I've discovered amber blueblockers. Everything's yellow, but the eyes relax. -
Several years ago, I was on a small two lane highway with lots of curves, hills, and valleys.
As I was coming through a set of curves, an oncoming vehicle flashed their headlights at me. A glance at the speedometer told me I wasn't speeding, difficult to do with all the curves.
But, as I rounded the next curve, it wasn't a cop I should have been looking for, but a herd of cattle! Luckily, nothing happened. But, the sight of a big red tractor pulling a trailer coming around the bend, caused the cattle to about face, and head back toward the pasture.
So, flashing lights do have a purpose other than alerting the presence of law enforcement officers.
BUT, JUST SAY NO! TO FLASHING OF BRIGHT LIGHTS AFTER DARK! -
That's what I use. I can't see in full sunlight, especially when the sun's coming up or going down, without some kind of sunglasses. -
I happened on a pair of amber sunglasses and let me tell you, they are a very effective tool at night for reducing the glare. NOBODY seems to dim their lights anymore so I will have them on my head, I can flip them down in less than a sec and reduce the glare enough to not have red, bloodshot eyes anymore. I can see well enough for no risk and when there is no glare, they go right back up. Doesn't work that well with your more common green lenses...

Truck drivers used to take pride in how they drove their trucks, now most of them (it seems from what I, and you, see every day) don't have a clue. Screw it, I'm too old to give a #### anymore. -
I argued long and hard about this with my dad when I rewired his old International. He wanted the wiring modified for easier signaling, H also want the whole thing rewired for free after he ste the wires on fire and cut them all out of the truck. I told him fine but not at the same time.
Now that I am studying for my own cdl, my brand new "South Carolina Commercial Drivers Manual" tells me that it is unsafe to tell others when it is safe to pass or not. So don't blame the new drivers. Like everything else the government has screwed up common couresy.Vitointn Thanks this. -

So what i'm trying to say Keith is Dude thats minor, i know it bothers you as much as i, but the bigger picture is safety and i can judge pretty well if i'm passed you or not and will flash you if it's not real busy, but what the thing that the people today are not remembering or just to stupid to remember is MERGING and just a FRIKKIN BLINKER! Let me know if you really are going over there or not YOU FRIKKIN IDIOT! Oh and if you let a truck in on a merge, the merging truck is to slow down to let the courtious truck over before you decide to drag race me so i can hold up traffic!
ROOKIES READ THIS CAREFULLY! if your not taught this in truck driving school FIRE THE TRAINER!shadowviper Thanks this.
