Just an FYI, these businesses did not fail, they merely assimilated into another corporate venture and made the new "host" corporation even larger. These businesses that you mentioned are not failing, they are merely growing stronger; same owners, only the names change. For example, Swissair was bought out by Lufthansa (yet still operates under the Swiss name) and, just like most other airlines in the U.S., there are only a couple of airlines left, which eliminates the competition and gives the consumers fewer choices, lousy service and sky high rates. Plus, the employees are getting screwed regarding working conditions and pay (where else are they gonna go)?
Same goes for most other companies.
