If your making profit then keep at it. But if a proven method of making more money is staring you in the face why not do it?
That's like these guys that say skirts don't work. They do and have been proven to work many many times in multiple configurations on multiple fleets on multiple trailers hauling multiple freight. Just saying...

It hasn't been proven that wide singles will cost less when all expenses are compared over the life of each type of tire. All you have is some tire companies marketing pitch and Calif and the government pushing green. There's lots of green to be made in green.

    I applaud critical thinking, but
    I suggest striving for a beginner's mind.

    Hi Mickey
I appreciate your tell-it-like-it-is style. However, on this thread you are coming across as close minded. Sometimes the best ideas come from those with the fresh outlooks. I have made many a tidy sum from ideas that came from people not even in my industry. When you think about it, a guy with your experience and a fresh faced tech guru would be a r&d dream team.

Mickey, Wore Out, you're better off not arguing. You'll notice the pro SS are mostly from those with very little time in the business, but know better than those that were trucking while these guys were still pushing trucks across the living room floor, especially Richter. He's already stated that he knows more than most with more than twice his experience. Kevin Rutherford has told them it's so, so it must be so.

If you want to know what's profitable look toward the mega fleets. Do you think they got so big by doing stuff that loses them money? They started with 1 truck too just like you. Only they now own 10k trucks and turn millions in profits every year. They must be doing something right.

Yeah,Doing it the WRONG way...I'll explain completely

Megafleets prosper because of the sweat off the Young and inexperienced...

Self-Insured, They OWN nothing, they Lease all of their equipment, And they Hire the less knowledgable..Who cares about Turnover..They DONT. A warm body in that drivers seat is what they want..Even if it only nets them a few loads and they quit.

See......Megacarriers have ZERO Heart! No Pride within their own atmosphere. They care about 1 aspect only. the Customer...Nobody else.
Hence operating with a terrible Mindset.

Go ahead, Go brag how good Mgacarriers are...Go work foir them...And talk to me in a few years and see how well your accomplishments go recognized. They wont.

The point is........mega carriers DO NOT do things the right way........

You can thank Deregulation,,After Jan 1st 1981.......Trucking Companies exploded on the Scene!! "now I can run my trucks Anywhere in the country and service any customer I choose"

Do you want to operate a professional trucking company??

TAKE CARE OF YOUR DRIVERS,They come FIRST and FOREMOST... Simple as that

    Joetro Thanks this.
