My husband applied to Prime for their training program and the recruiter Seth told him that He would be set to go the 1st or 2nd week of January and to call him back the 1st week of Dec. So he has called 3 different times to his direct line and left a message but hasn't recieved his call back. Any ideas what to do on this one?

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
No openings until January

Keep calling until someone picks up, with all the drivers looking for work they don't have too call back....sounds bad I know but its the way the industry is now....good luck

Thanks, I had not kept up with it !!

While that's true I think there would also be a lot of freight freed up that would have been yrc's but is now available to other trucking outfits. -
The bottom feeders will be all over that freight !!

somewhere today I read where there is still an oversupply of trucks by the tune of 18% and while its true that if yrc was out of the picture all that will do to avalible freight is level the playing field.
A lot of the other major players have been undercutting freight to sink yrc and as long as this has been going on cash reserves have got to be getting low with everyone so freight rates should level off and even rise to more reasonable levels by next spring.
as far as new drivers entering the field I don't see many companies adding to their fleets and the flux of drivers from YRC will be around for a while. -
I drive for one of the bigger players and from my POV you are absolutely right. It seems that everything is geared toward 'maximizing revenue'. In the big picture that means those who can't cut enough expenses (yrc) die a painful death. But narrow the focus to us drivers and that means long waits on the phone because the support staff is cut to a bare minimum. Also strict idling rules, long lines for cheapest fuel, rude behavior from over worked support staff, and many other little cuts to save a buck.
Yeah I guess that's true too. As Groundpounder said the bottom feeders will be all over that freight. The sharks smell blood in the water. -
All in all, it's just a bad time to be out of work in general and an even worse time to try starting a new career, doesn't matter what it is. Maybe this is a bad move, maybe it's not. I've got too much time and money invested in it now to just give up before I even get started, so I gotta go wherever the jobs are, even if it's a bottom feeder company. No I don't like it much, but it is what it is. I've still got some other prospects I'm holding out for, but if things don't work out, I'll be driving for Swift.

We all had to start somewhere in order to get some seat time, I started with Millis which ain't saying much !! LOL
Put your time in and be safe then move on if you feel the need.....good luck..

I certainly understand we all have to start somewhere. I'm going into this with eyes open, a positive attitude, and low expectations. My intentions right now is to get a job where ever I can, whether it be at a great company or a bottom feeder, do the best that I can, be safe, and put in my time gaining experience. After I have my time and experience, if the time is right, I'll move on, but not just because I think the grass might be greener over there. I'm excited about getting started (again) and I really wanna get started tomorrow, but I need to wait at least til next month.
