Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

The same thing here, but you must not give up, the trucking companies are doing things I only seen crack heads do!
-
It's not even just the trucking companies telling me this. I've been looking for any kind of local work, even signed on with a temp agency. NO body is hireing right now! It's getting pathetic out there. Geez, all I wanna do is work hard and support my family. Is that really asking to much?
-
Well I was fired from my last job but it wasn`t a driving job. i was Hired on with swift as a new driver today. I start tomorrow with my trainer. Might depend on your area though.

You know that's a fact with no room for debate!

The openings for a while are going to be tight. Being at the right place-at the right time WORKS. Keep on top of things, stay in touch with them !!
Don't worry though, those big outfits are spitting out them drivers, as fast as they can chew them up !!! Making room for more noobies. -
Hey jtrnr, I used to be your neighbor when I lived in the Woodlands, my son and ex live on I-45 with a Conroe address.
I know the feeling, I have never seen it so bad! I'm desperate enough now to go back to an o/o who has screwed me once and could very well do an Arrow to me and his other drivers, as he is on VERY shaky ground. I turned in my app yesterday to Swift to be rehired so I can drive for him again. I'm also putting out resumes in my old field (telecom). Whatever hits first is where I'm going to go.
Good luck and prayers to all you out of work drivers that you may find gainful employment soon!jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
Well, the good news, at least for me right now, is that I got a job today and I start on monday. It's not a trucking job, but that's ok because it's only a temp job. What this will allow me to do is work for a month and get some personal issues taken care of and still look for a driving job. I do have a green light with Swift after the firt of the year, but I'm going to ask them to put it off for another month. I'm sure they won't have a problem with that as they may not even be able to get me started next month anyway. I also have a couple other companies to look into as well, so right now I'm looking for something around Feburary. Thanks for all the comments.
