If its saying no data check the large ground wire going from the ecm to the side of the block. It normally goes to the stud just above where the ecm is located. thats most likely why it isn't firing. The ecm isn't communicating with the engine. Check the harnesses to and from the ecm as well.

If you cant talk with the ecm and the engine wont crank over, id start checking battery cables and connections. ECM clean power is usually at the battery.(cables with the small wires branching off the main leads). If not then it pulls it off the starter + terminal. The ECM has no control over engine cranking, we have a power supply and or ground issue to the engine as well as the cranking system. Start there and work you way to the starter.

Thanks everyone for you help will keep you posted

Check the ECM ground wire. If it has a an inline fuse on it, check it. Mine had that problem and Cummins hard wired a new ground wire from the ECM direct to a Negative post on a battery.

Personally I think we should figure out whether the truck is turning over or not. Then figure out the problem.
The problem could be as simple as they ran the filters dry and drained the injectors. IF thats the case, the ECM has nothing to do with the problem.bigkw Thanks this. -
When this started did the engine die on it's own or did you shut it off and it won't restart?

Died on own

Does it turn over?

This thread is frustrating. I can't wait to find out the answers!

I'm taking bets on running the filters dry.
