Hey op, my suggestion would be to find a local cement company or stone supplier who produces custom cast products or local deliveries, you'll have your dump truck and mixer runs and when it's needed for deliveries then you've got your A for the skateboard... Not sure what is up in Michigan but I'd say it's worth a try

If you go to a big flatbed company you'll be tarpping. Why? Cause it's what's cheap and left over on the load boards from the O/O.

You think you're spoiled? We do drop and hook hauling tubes in Chicago. We have a guy who starts at 1 or 2 in the morning tarping all the loads. The company pays $25 a load, and he does 10 in 5 hours. We just have to strap the load and bungee the tarps. From check in to leaving is usually 1 hour, but 15 minutes of that is just finding the trailer.

I was hoping there might be a company that would take people with no experience with the side curtains if I have to have experiance I guess I will have to pay my dues and learn how to tarp. Reading through doesn't sound like it's all that bad.

That all depends... A 30 mph wind in Arizona in January is a lot different than a 30 mph wind in North Dakota October through April... LOL

I tarped once this year. $1000 for 3 hours work. Got a $1600 tarp job last year.

Anyway, you're looking at things wrong. These guys can tarp anything. It's like gift wrapping a giant gift. You learn how to tarp anything and everything. Not saying that you should want to tarp every load. I'm saying that you should want to learn everything...that way you can eventually make them pay you for what you know, not what you do.

Likely somewhere in the Southern US where they don't have rain, snow or any form of precipitation.

Also, they make trailers for no-tarp freight... it's called a van.

It's not that it's bad.... It CAN be bad but it all depends on your outlook of it. Most of the crap I tarp is simple but there are the few loads that need EVERY corner padded and odd dimensions make the tarp job look like an autistic child did it BUT 85% of them the hardest parts are rolling them out or putting them on top of the load, the rest is just bungee work and making it look pretty. As you progress you'll get faster and it'll become easier, all you have to do is find out what works best for you and work out a routine
