I got a question about hazmat. Picking up a load of hazmat totes in Pasadena TX. The road to get me back on the highway has a sign that has the HM with the red stripe through it but says 'except origin and destinations.'. So since I just picked up a hazmat and heading out its okay then?

That is exactly correct. It is an example of "Grandfathering". The company was most likely there before the restriction came around. No other company will be allowed to locate there with hazmat but they had to do something to allow that company to continue.

Yes sir that's what its supposed to mean. Just make sure your BOL reflects an address that is in the "No Through Trucks" area.

I totally agree with if they didn't catch us doing it it didn't happen.
When I got pinched in Houston the guy was just waiting for SOMEONE to do it.

    Local delivery

Usually the company is on a road that is Non-STAA (48'/96") on the trailer. To prevent loss to the company you are allowed with a trailer that is STAA (53'/102") to pick up or deliver.

    No Trucks is No trucks.

As a cop friend of mine once explained, "Once you become a cop, EVERYTHING looks like a perp".

Just don't let them bring their Tazers. I'd hate to see the effects on a cow...

My buddy Al the Cop was training cops for awhile. They used a bull to demonstrate the taser. I'm sure that wasn't an ASPCA approved activity...
