No Trailer Plate

OK.....legally, you cannot run down the highway without evidence of vehicle registration attached to said vehicle, right ? However, if you lose the license plate, then you have to decide if you want to run without the plate attached and risk a citation. Now a big difference running your Toyota Corolla around town VS. running from Atlanta-Fresno and back with a piece of cardboard.

Yeah, 1st rain storm, "pull 'er 'round back, driver". That doesn't sound right to me, just asking for trouble, as is with no plate at all.( those "License Applied For" plates people make up are no good either, btw) Used to be, I hauled rail cans, and some didn't have plates, but the loads didn't pay enough to sit around until daybreak to get one( always haul rail cans at night) and then traffic, so I kept a spare plate in my truck from a storage trailer. I figured ANY plate was better than nothing, and I got away with it, took the plate with me when I dropped it. I still maintain that attitude today, any METAL plate is better than nothing, but that was 20 years ago, and while I'd still try that on a car, I'd never pull a wagon without a plate today, unless you want to meet some new friends.

I find that somewhat comical. I'm not saying they wouldn't arrest you for it, but to arrest you for counterfeiting with a cardboard tag would be like arresting you for counterfeit money with monopoly money.

I've got a collection of trailer tags myself. Never used one but I hang onto them just in case. Trailer tags in TN are permanent, so one could be 50 years old and still be legitimate.
