No, I was talking about the gorge between Exits 33 and 37 on I40. I know all too well the area you're talking about and have heard a few stories. We don't travel that way too often, when we do head to TN, most of the time we go through the Smokies.

I don't have a problem with trucks using the left lane, it's more the fact that they cut you off and then get ticked when you react because they almost took you out.

    Oh, that area.

I've never seen any enforcement of that little stretch, though I often feel that trucks take a few of those curves too fast (once saw a Werner on it's side going EB into that first curve).

I used to live in Asheville and my kids still live in Jackson county, so I still go through there in my personal vehicle from time to time.

O.k., I know where you're talking about. When I go through there it's usually all the way to Taylorsville, so I go through the gorge on the line, the one where you live and the one on the other side of Asheville (but it is downhill on the eastbound side and it's 3 lanes per direction so it's a little nicer).

Mndweller are you 100% sure the driver saw you in his/her mirror. T/T's have several blind spots and the driver may not have seen you.

Yep just like the dumb 4 wheelers and 2 wheelers that pass us only to slam on the brakes to hit an exit ramp or just to pass us to slow down. :biggrin_25510: Not so much the 2 wheelers ( I ride myself ) except the sportbike guys but there are some who just don't get it that don't ride sport bikes. This debate could go on forever. Moral of the story? Be aware of your surroundings and expect the unexpected and it don't hurt to be lucky either.

When you are changing lanes into a left lane there are basically no blind spots if its the third most left lane. Stuff like that is just lack of courtesy and common sense and the drivers that do that "because they can" have no business being out on the road.

Last week I saw a big truck signal to come over, He was in the right going to the middle. Had a 4 wheeler been paying attention he would have seen that as the truck signaled until it was clear. If the 4 wheeler would have bothered to use a a turn signal or look and merge properly he would not have almost been run over. He was in the left going to the middle and the truck was already half way there.

Do you have one of them bikes where the headlight flickers bright/dim? If so, thats your problem! With drivers being more lazy now a days they just flicker the brights, cars and trucks alike do it. Alot of drivers have just gotten to the point to assume it's ok to get over when in reality its just some stupid thing they put on these bikes to draw attention.
