Well perhaps you were imprisoned for something you didn't do, but you just admitted that you "worked under the table in Northern Cali - marijuana industry", so you knew you were breaking the law.
Maybe your time in prison should have taught you not to continue to work outside the "rules", huh? Things like lying on job applications seem to show that you haven't yet learned that.
I wish you the best, but I fear that if you continue to try to BS your way through, you'll wind up banned from the industry for life at some point, or worse kill yourself or someone else.
Perhaps you should seek employment in a less regulated industry. If you're having to lie (nondisclosure is basically lying) to get a job in this industry then perhaps you should find one that you don't have to lie to get a job, huh?
no verified work history!

How many ####### times do I have to tell you that what I was doing was legal? You do know that medical marijuana is legal in Cali? That there are more dispensaries than McDonald's and Starbucks? That it wasn't necessarily my responsibility to pay taxes, but the responsibility of those that paid me? Not that they care, anyways.....
To the original poster: Stephens Transport doesn't care about your work history and/or won't even bother to verify it . I literally didn't fill out all of the information because I didn't have access to it (I just happened upon a place where they were recruiting) and they said it didn't matter. Later on, on that same day, they called me up and were ready to start me in classes the following week. They then ran a bg check while I was on the phone with them and that's when it went awry. -
BTW, I'm well aware of the status of marijuana at both the state and federal levels. I ran drug testing programs for DOT regulated companies for years as a TPA (third party administrator).
And here's a newsflash for you, marijuana is STILL ILLEGAL at the FEDERAL level.
BUT, regardless of what we believe or whether medical marijuana is legal in California, or any other state for that matter, it's STILL ILLEGAL AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL. The Justice Department (which contains the DEA and FBI) has chosen not to enforce the federal prohibition against marijuana in states that have passed medical marijuana. But they can if they want.
As far as the taxes are concerned it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to pay your federal taxes. If you were to be tried for tax evasion it would not be the company that would be charged, tried, convicted, etc. it would be YOU.
The company might be fined, etc. for failing to properly withhold, but it's ultimately the individual taxpayers' responsibilities to ensure that their taxes are paid.
So, YOU'VE admitted to violating multiple FEDERAL laws and now you want to enter an industry that is highly regulated at BOTH the federal and state levels?!
I'm just suggesting that perhaps that's not the best choice of an industry for someone such as yourself to try to work in at least until you can establish some perfectly legal, tax paying work history.
Best of luck to you in your endeavors!Last edited: Nov 20, 2011

Here is an interesting thought. Some companies running their "schools" are hiring High School kids with no previous work history what so ever. What's the difference between a high school kid with no work history and anyone else who has no 3 year work history? Answer is age. Age discrimination is illegal if I am not mistaken.
The DOT regs say a valid attempt to verify work history must be attempted. The regs do NOT say what (if anything) must be found in order to offer or engage employment with someone. -
Either that, or they're hiring the dumb kids who flunked a few grades and don't graduate from high school until they're 21, huh? -
If the guy you worked for will verify that when called, then you'll be OK. If not most companies will ask for three non related references stating they now you and you were doing x type of work for the last few years.
biggen0_8 Thanks this.
