Time record can be the time clock, etc.

We use a smartphone app time clock for everyone that allows anyone to review their 'time card'.

Back in the day of 100% paper logs and less LEO understanding of the 'exemptons'; not having a book usually resulted in me going to fight the ticket and winning after educating the prosecutor...LEO's first ask was 'let me see your log book'....

One of our cdl box trucks hit the scale in Danbury and the supervisor had to come out and determine that we were not over the 100 air miles [pre change to 150 air miles] before they let him continue.

Companies with a mixture of OTR and local guys that used a log scanning system would show 100% line 4 with the same start and stop point and add 'time record' to the log page so the scanner could alse account for the HOS.

Either way the carrier is responsible and accountable for monitoring the HOS.

Under 150 air miles still requires logging. It doesn't require a graph log, just needs a timecard for the log. It's still logging though.
And even under 150 air miles all logging rules are still in effect, it's just most of them are recorded by the timecard.
And even under the 150 mile exemption, you can only drive 11 hours a day. No one cares or even tracks it sure, but it is still required.
