I just noticed, you don't have a CDL?
-
Luckly I am a 31 year old cracker/##### with the only cancer history in my family self induced(Liver in my Grandfather from drinking and Lung in my grandmother from smoking.....)
-
Nah,Been into factory work all my life.I have come oh so close to getting my CDL many times.Plans are to get them one day in the next couple years just to have them.I am gonna use this truck as a self tought CDL school and when I get good enough driving it have a buddy of mine go with me that has his CDL to take the test in the truck.I don't forsee me ever having to use it to put cash in my pocket but in this day in age,ANYTHING can happen job wise and having as many outs possible is a major plus even if it isn't something I really think I would want to do 24 hours a day 7 days a week in all kinda weather and surrounded by idiots in buzz box 4 wheeler.

The only cancer in my family was my brother who started smoking in his teens and died of lung cancer in his early 40's .

I was asking because there is so many Regs that you need to know.
Not having DOT #'s, IFTA stickers, Company Name, and ETC will catch the eye of any DOT cop out there, even though you are legal. They will make sure you are up to speed.
Here's a good start, have fun!

I do not want to hijack this guys thread but I have a similar situation. I am hauling a load of bees in a coupla weeks from FL to NC in a 2002 GMC C6500 25950 GVWR. I read this FMC rule 391.2 called apiarian exemption and am wondering what it gets me out of - if anything. Does it mean no requirement for log book? Med Card? Since it is less than 26000 GVWR I assume no CDL requirement - just confused about that 391.2 and wonder if someone would straighten me out - Thanks.

Have a member of staff forward a pm to Mike_MD . He's with FMCSA .

I don't have a little green FMCSR book handy, but I've driven 25,500lb truck around, and it does require a log book if for commercial use. So if those bee's are for sale or something, you may want to grab a log book and keep one just to cover your own rear end.

Commercial is a very large and broad term.
If you advertise your company's name on the equipment, it's commercial.
If you write off the expenses incurred to restore the equipment, it's commercial.
If you are paid for any of the shows you attend whether with money or free hotel rooms, it's commercial.
If you filled out an entry application, paid a fee and MAY win prize month, it's commercial.
The above are some examples of when an enterprises may be considered commercial.
Be safe.
